Dave, I was at Banff in 1984. Kenny and I spent a lot of time together, I saw him in Los Angeles years ago when you played at McCabes. many years back. actually hung out after the gig. frankly I'm known a bit in local LA jazz circles as the Kenny Wheeler guy. I want to let Kenny Know how much his music and humility of course has affected my life as a musician/writer. don't want to go on too long. but please know how much You and Kenny mean to me. I recorded a tune that I wrote in honor of Kenny in '84 ..I called it the Whee hours. good players. Gary Novak, Derron Johnson.. of Miles and Chick's groups. I can't thank you enough for the Banff school. ECM ...I wish more knew the bueaty in this music.

Angel Song is still a favorite Wheeler/Holland date. The fact that it has Bill Frisell on it helps too. I've always enjoyed the extended solo that Kenny Wheeler took on the quintet recording of First Snow too.

Holland and Wheeler have produced some of my favorite music. I have been a huge fan of both for years. I had the occasion to meet Kenny in Philadelphia a few years ago...He is as kind a person as he is a gifted musician.

Kenny Wheeler is one of my heroes. I have great memories of seeing him play with you in Braxton's group back in the mid- and late-70s. His solos were always gems. Happy Birthday to him. Hope to see him in the US sometime soon.
